Our Origin
In 1982, visionary aesthetician Survana Yuen embarked on a transformative journey by founding the Hong Kong Senniyo Beauty and Figure Group. Guided by her core philosophy—“Others can shine when I can help them feel more beautiful”—she sought to merge advanced aesthetic science with genuine care, empowering individuals to restore their confidence, vitality, and natural radiance. What began as a passionate pursuit in Hong Kong rapidly evolved into an international legacy built on trust, technological innovation, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
Carrying her expertise across the Pacific, Principal Yuen expanded her vision to Canada, establishing her first Vancouver location in 1992 and a flagship Richmond salon in 1994. Observing a growing need for standardized, high-caliber aesthetic training in North America, she established Senniyo Aesthetics International School in 1995. Officially designated as a premier private training institution, Senniyo was founded to set new benchmarks in aesthetic education, bridging the gap between foundational theory and real-world mastery.
At the heart of Senniyo’s legacy is Principal Yuen’s hands-on educational ethos: nurturing every student with patience, tailored guidance, and practical immersion. Through intentionally small class sizes, interactive teaching, and direct one-on-one training on live models, Senniyo ensures that every student develops superior technical dexterity and clinical confidence. Students do not merely learn skincare techniques; they acquire the international standards, practical mastery, and entrepreneurial mindset needed to thrive in competitive global markets.
Principal Survana Yuen’s influence spans decades and international borders. A media trailblazer, she became the first Asian host of dedicated TV and radio aesthetic shows in North America. Her authoritative expertise saw her judge China’s inaugural national makeup competitions and sponsor prominent community events such as the Miss Vancouver Pageant over many years. Under her leadership, Senniyo earned the prestigious Top School Medal from the Cosmetologists’ Association of BC, while Principal Yuen herself was honored with the Chinese Outstanding Entrepreneur Award in Beijing.
Today, Senniyo stands as a trusted authority in medical aesthetics and professional education. Thousands of Senniyo alumni now lead successful careers as sought-after aestheticians, spa managers, and salon owners across Canada, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Mainland China. As Senniyo continues to shape the future of aesthetic care, Principal Survana Yuen and her team remain dedicated to cultivating tomorrow’s beauty leaders; combining art, science, and heart to help every student and client shine.
